Scenic Charge
Pay Rate: $15/hr (40 hour week)
Job Summary
The Scenic Charge for Riverside Center for the Performing Arts will work with the Technical Director on a 6 mainstage show season. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of scenic painting and texturing techniques. They will also be well organized and have experience managing their time among multiple shows. They are also responsible for maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Communicate with the designer regarding scenic renderings
Communicate with the production manager over budgetary and over-hire needs
Create the aesthetic of the show per the designer’s specifications
Collaborate with the production team to schedule work hours around other departments throughout the load-in and tech process
Follow up on any paint notes that are given through the closing of the show
Advise in techniques to achieve specific looks
Knowledge
Knowledge of various paint techniques
Experience with different types of paint
Budget tracking
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of various drop materials
Proper storage of show drops
Keeping an inventory
Education and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre or Technical Theatre from an accredited university or possess equivalent professional experience;
2+ years of experience in a professional theatre environment
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
Physical Requirements:
Ability to bend at the waist and lift items up to 50 lbs. to waist level;
Ability to move items up to 50 lbs. for distances of 25+ feet;
Ability to remain standing and active for an 8-12 hour shift;
Ability to handle working in both hot and cold temperatures
Indoor activity with prolonged exposure to windowless work area;
Frequent exposure to fluorescent lighting and low light conditions
Frequent exposure to dust
Occasional exposure to fumes
Occasional work at heights in excess of 40 feet
Riverside Team Members
Practice proper time reporting (i.e., punches in and out accurately);
Arrive at work on time, in the proper work attire, and ready to work;
Demonstrate a helpful, positive attitude at all times to guests and employees;
Understand and adhere to all safety, sanitation, and administrative procedures;
Provide complete and timely communication to other employees throughout the shift;
Is prepared to conduct weekly maintenance duties;
Complete all assigned tasks and duties requested by managers;
