Job Summary
The Director of Marketing for the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts (RCPA) is a full-time position. The Director of Marketing will oversee the activities of managing the day-day operations, people, resources, and assets associated with the Marketing Department. The Director of Marketing is responsible for being aware of applicable laws and statutes; is accountable for their performance and is the primary liaison between Riverside Center for the Performing Arts and local, community, and national sources of advertising. and will prepare and present statistical data related to their responsibilities. The Director of Marketing ensures that the organization maintains positive and productive relationships with media, funders, donors, and other organizations. In this capacity, the Director of Marketing serves as a spokesperson for the RCPA. Duties may include representing the organization to the media; The RCPA Director of Marketing will report to the CEO & Producing Artistic Director. The Director of Marketing will meet weekly with other RCPA Department Heads and update progress, reports and events scheduled. The Director of Marketing ensures that structures and procedures are in place for securing the resources required by the organization.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Develop and implement marketing plans, including promotional calendars and programs, new product introductions and other marketing projects
Develop and manage marketing budgets to include a yearly budget
Create banners, posters, fliers, etc. to promote each show and season.
Establish and grow a target market share
Monitor costs and budgets
Conduct customer, brand and product research initiatives
Help create and develop innovative advertising for TV , radio, and print
Social Management of Facebook, Instagram, and X accounts on a daily basis.
Create content friendly and engaging posts and reels on all social media platforms
Attend hospitality meetings, networking meeting, chamber events, and community programs
Negotiate with media partners to guarantee advantageous contracts
Work with new business development team and sales teams on brand initiatives
Manage agency providers, consultants, freelancers and other suppliers, including contract negotiation and management
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Sift through marketing data to find important trends
Send Mailchimp emails biweekly to patrons
Write Press Releases and cast announcements
Stay up to date on the latest marketing trends
Attend conferences to further marketing knowledge
Create marketing reports for the Producing Artistic Director
Provide input to the Producing Artistic Director on technical and financial analysis of actions related to and associated with the Marketing of the RCPA.
Assist and advise the PAD in the preparation of predictive and post-analysis of all theater performances through variance reports for each performance.
Maintain a visible leadership role in the community, local and regional theatre/conference center community, and work closely with the PAD to fulfill and advance the RCPA’s mission and vision
Act as the representative and advocate of the RCPA Company with government agencies, community and local business groups and arts organizations.
Arrive at work on time, in the proper attire, always maintains a professional and positive attitude. Completes all assigned tasks and duties required.
Knowledge
Strong knowledge of theater industry and marketing;
Strong communication and negotiation skills;
Basic accounting knowledge and management experience;
Knowledge of musical theater shows, designs and production;
Ability to handle, maintain, and protect confidential information and problem-solve
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and have excellent decision-making skills
Able to communicate effectively in speech and writing
Able to work nights and or weekends.
Must have experience with Canva and Adobe for graphics
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in marketing from an accredited university or 3 years work experience
Active marketing and sales experience;
Ability to sit in front of a computer screen for prolonged periods of time;
Frequent exposure to fluorescent lighting and low light conditions;
Ability to stand for long periods of time;
Able to routinely lift, carry and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds;
