Fundraising Specialist


Salary Rate: $60,000.00


Job Summary

The Fundraising Specialist for Riverside is an individual who has experience and demonstrated success in creating, implementing and driving fundraising strategies and programs for a nonprofit organization.  The Fundraising Specialist’s responsibilities include developing fundraising strategies, recruiting sponsors/funding sources for theater productions, overseeing all aspects of donor relations, organizing fundraisers throughout the year and identifying available grant opportunities. The Fundraising Specialist works to ensure that the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts continues to be a vital element of the community by the ability to articulate the Mission and Vision to potential donors, create a positive work environment for all employees and provide an outstanding experience for patrons.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Creates and communicates fundraising strategy to Board and throughout organization;

  • Research individuals, corporations, and foundations available to make significant gifts/sponsorships;

  • Oversee all aspects of donor relations including maintain positive relationships, maintain donor database, provide written acknowledgements of donations, and ensure regular donor communications; 

  • Research and write grant applications and other fundraising proposals;

  • Plan and execute fundraising events;

  • Work with RCPA Accountant to ensure appropriate record-keeping and prompt deposits of donations;

  • Provide monthly reports of actions taken and results to the RCPA Board of Trustees.

  • Ability to be creative, flexible and persuasive;

  • Competence in the use of donor management software; 

  • Ability to handle, maintain and protect confidential information;

  • Ability to problem-solve and facilitate solutions to problems;

  • Ability to work productively under time pressures and to meet deadlines;

  • Ability to work independently and exercise excellent decision-making skills;

  • Able and willing to work evenings and weekends.

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications or public relations related field;

  • Experience in fundraising or in a similar role;

  • Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters;

  • Confidence in public speaking.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer screen for prolonged periods of time;

  • Indoor activity with prolonged exposure to windowless work area;

  • Frequent exposure to fluorescent lighting and low light conditions;

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time;

  • Ability to routinely lift, carry and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds;

  • Able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

  • OSHA 10-HR General Industry

Riverside Team Members

  • Practice proper time reporting (i.e., punches in and out accurately);

  • Arrive at work on time, in the proper work attire, and ready to work;

  • Demonstrate a helpful, positive attitude at all times to guests and employees;

  • Understand and adhere to all safety, sanitation, and administrative procedures;

  • Provide complete and timely communication to other employees throughout the shift;

  • Is prepared to conduct weekly maintenance duties;

  • Complete all assigned tasks and duties requested by managers;
