Art Shows at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts

Riverside Center for the Performing Arts in Fredericksburg, VA seeks local and regional artists to showcase their artwork throughout our 2017/2018 season. Riverside stages six Broadway-style theatrical productions each year along with hosting more than 100 events annually in our events center. Art work for these exhibits is displayed in our spacious lobby lounge for periods of six to eight weeks where it can be enjoyed by both our event participants and theatre guests. We promote the show via our website and social media as well as hosting opening and closing “Meet the Artist” receptions. There is no fee for entry. There is a 5% commission for sales. All artwork subject to the approval of Riverside Center.

Our production schedule for the 2017/2018 season:

On Golden Pond

Deadline for submissions Sept. 11, 2017. Installation date Sept. 29, 2017. Exhibit through Nov. 20, 2017.

Single or multi-artist show featuring artwork inspired by the imagery and themes of the stage play and 1981 film, On Golden Pond, by Earnest Thompson.

A Virginia Christmas

Deadline for submissions Nov. 14, 2017. Installation date Nov. 24, 2017. Exhibit through January 1, 2018.

Multi-artist show featuring artwork inspired by Christmas in Virginia. This show corresponds with our original musical, Riverside Christmas Spectacular.

All Things Spring

Deadline for submissions Dec. 22, 2107. Installation date Jan. 5, 2018. Exhibit through March 9, 2018.

Mamma Mia!, with all of its glorious Abba songs, weddings, and flowers and Grecian spring takes to the stage at Riverside January 10, 2018 and we want to adorn the walls with artwork that evokes a sense of spring time.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Deadline for submissions March 1, 2018. Installation date March 9, 2018. Exhibit through May 11, 2018.

It’s the Disney musical version of a classic tale, The Hunchback of Notre Dame comes to the Riverside Center March 14. We’re looking for art inspired by this story rich with Gothic architecture, love, unlikely heroes, soaring music, and so much more.

Interested parties should send high quality photographs of their works, as well as a statement of what materials are used and the artist's process to If accepted, artists are required to sign a contract and will be responsible for transporting their works to and from the exhibition site.
