What is your dress code?

Generally speaking, the dress code for Dinner Theater performances is “business casual.” Ladies should wear a nice dress or slacks outfit. Gentlemen should wear dress slacks and a nice shirt, with coat and tie being optional. Jeans, T-shirts, and sneakers are not acceptable.

For Children’s Theater performances, the attire is “casual.” Jeans, T-shirts, and sneakers are acceptable for both children and adults.

Do you offer buffet dining?

No. For our Dinner Theater , we offer a 3-course, waiter-served dinner. Our menu includes a fresh garden salad, hot rolls, a choice of entrees (including vegetarian and children's selections), and an assortment of desserts. Coffee, tea, and water are also included. Our full-service bar is open for most performances, offering soft drinks, a variety of wines, and mixed drinks at extra cost . Patrons with special dietary needs should contact our Head Chef for assistance.

For our Children's Theater , we offer a bag lunch—usually chicken nuggets, potato chips, Teddy graham crackers, a fruit cup, and a juice box—served “lunch-line style” (picked up by guests themselves). No peanut or other nut products are used as an ingredient or in the preparation of our lunches.

May I bring a cake for a special occasion?

No. Health codes do not permit customers to bring food from outside sources into our facility. However, Our Dinner Theater menu offers a varied choice of desserts, often including a cake selection. (If you wish, you may bring a candle for your waiter to place on the dessert of the person celebrating his/her birthday.)

For Children's Theater performances, you may order a cake, at extra cost, for your party. Also, for those celebrating a birthday, a cake is included in our popular Birthday Party Package. Please ask for details when making your Children's Theater reservation.

Are your shows appropriate for children?

Riverside Center is a family-oriented theater. We always seek to present live entertainment that appeals to the broadest range of customer ages, sensibilities, and tastes, while maintaining, as much as possible, the original content and integrity of each show.

Our Dinner Theater productions are selected from the classic repertoire of the Broadway musical stage. Many of the plays were written during the middle decades of the 20 th century. Content considered risqué then is now most likely considered “PG” at worst. Plays written later during the 1980s and 1990s may have some objectionable content and language, but this will be minimized as much as possible.

We do not admit children under the age of three to Dinner Theater performances. Instead, we highly recommend our Children's Theater , which is specifically geared to the age and attention level of young children (though teens and adults also enjoy these productions!).

All of our Children's Theater shows are musical retellings of classic children's stories. Because of time limitations and musical considerations, some plays may not follow the most recognizable (i.e., “Disney”) version of each story. However, our productions are always “child-oriented” and avoid offensive language, revealing costumes, or frightening scenes.

If there is any question regarding the suitability or appropriateness of a particular show, please contact our Box Office to discuss your concerns. Our customer service associates have viewed the current productions, and their first-hand knowledge of each show may be helpful.

May I photograph or record parts of a performance?

Due to copyright restrictions, the taking of photographs, either with or without flash, and the use of any audio or video recording device during performances is strictly prohibited.

Do you have non-smoking performances?

Our facility is 100% non-smoking at all times. However, for the convenience of patrons who wish to smoke, a small smoking area is provided near the main entrance.

Do you have provisions for the physically impaired?

Riverside Center is definitely “user friendly” for our patrons with disabilities.

For persons in wheelchairs, there are no steps between the drive-up portico at the front door and the main-floor tables (“orchestra” seating) in the theater. We have wide aisles that make these tables easily accessible for wheelchairs.

For the hearing impaired, we offer personal hearing-assistance receivers—at no charge—that amplify the music and sound from the stage. We do not provide an interpreter.

For those with allergies or other breathing difficulties, our entire facility is “non-smoking.” We sometimes utilize a fog-producing machine to create a special “haze effect” on stage, but the water-based fog will not adversely affect those seated nearby.

When making your reservation, please inform the Box Office customer service associate that someone in your party has a disability. Our facility is 100% non-smoking at all times. However, for the convenience of patrons who wish to smoke, a small smoking area is provided near the main entrance.

What are the requirements for group rates?

To qualify for a group rate for a Dinner Theater performance, you must reserve for at least 12 people. We must receive your reservation at least two weeks prior to the performance. Your group rate will depend on (1) the size of your group, and (2) the particular day that you attend (since our ticket prices vary from Wednesday to Sunday). Your group rate includes dinner, the show, all taxes, and your waiter's gratuity.

Group rates are not available for our Children's Theater . All tickets are the same low price, regardless of group size. Since performances (especially on weekdays) tend to sell out quickly, large groups such as school groups, scout troops, and church groups should make reservations several weeks in advance.

How do I make a reservation?

ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED, since many performances sell out. All seating is reserved on a first-come, as-available basis. For the best seating, please reserve 6-8 weeks prior to your preferred performance date.

You may make a reservation by calling the Riverside Center Box Office at 540-370-4300. Please have your credit card ready, since payment for ALL tickets is required when you make your reservation. We accept all major credit cards.

You may also make your reservation and payment in person. Box Office hours are: Monday through Wednesday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

When making your reservation, you may request seating in the theater section you prefer (see Detailed Seating Layout). If you reserve for a party of 5 or more people, you may be seated at separate-but-neighboring tables.

Because very young children may become noisy or restless during the performance, disturbing patrons seated nearby, we DO NOT admit children under the age of three years to our Dinner Theater performances. ALL patrons, regardless of age , must have a ticket.

PLEASE NOTE: At high-demand Dinner Theater performances, another party may be seated with you - without prior notification - when empty seats are available at your table (or table group).

What are your ticket sales and rescheduling policies?

ALL SALES ARE FINAL . We cannot refund your payment after it has been processed. No refunds will be made for unused tickets (including season tickets), gift certificates, or patron savings package certificates.

Discounts for military, as well as other “in-house” discounts and coupons, are applicable to Dinner Theater reservations. Please mention eligibility for these discounts when reserving your seating. These discounts will not be deducted after payment has been processed. Discounts may not be combined with other discounts.

Theater tickets for all performances are held in the Box Office. You may pick up your tickets at the Box Office window when you arrive for dinner/lunch and the show. Riverside Center will not be responsible for and will not reissue any tickets (including season tickets), gift certificates, or patron savings package certificates that may be lost or misplaced by the purchaser or holder

Anyone with a reservation who does not attend the reserved performance will be considered a “No Show” and will forfeit the ticket fee for that performance.

If for any reason you must reschedule your reservation, please call the Riverside Center Box Office no later than 12:00 noon on the day before the date of the reserved evening or matinee performance. Only one (1) rescheduling will be allowed, with a processing fee of $10 per ticket for mainstage Dinner Theater tickets (maximum fee $40 for 4 or more rescheduled tickets), or $5 per ticket for Children's Theater tickets (maximum fee $20 for 4 or more rescheduled tickets).

Tickets may be rescheduled for up to one year from the originally scheduled performance date, after one year you forfeit your reservation entirely.

Although the shows and dates listed in our promotional brochures and fliers are as accurate as possible, the actual dates, duration of production runs, and specific show titles may change without notice .
