The Riverside Center opened on June 18th, 1998 with the dinner theater's inaugural performance of Oklahoma!. Since then, Riverside Center has been the site of over 60 mainstage Broadway musical productions, more than 100 musical adaptations of popular children’s stories in our Children’s Theater, and innumerable wedding receptions, social events, business seminars, military balls, and special hosted events in our Conference Facility. The Riverside Center has positioned itself within the Fredericksburg area as a centerpiece to an already thriving cultural arts and special events community.
Built in response to our General Manager Rollin E. Wehman's vision for bringing professional performing arts to the Fredericksburg area, Riverside is 36,000 square feet of dinner theater and conference facility all rolled into one beautiful building. Specially designed with its multiple functions as the driving force the two spaces are both gracious and accommodating with the best that technology has to offer. Whether it be an intimate wedding and reception, a professional business function or a motorcoach trip for dinner and show, the Riverside Center was custom built to accommodate your needs. Our Theater is a traditional proscenium stage boasting Virginia's only dinner theater fly loft for exquisite sets and seamless transitions. Every week we offer evening dinner theater performances Thursday through Saturday and matinee performances on Wednesday and Sunday. Children's theater matinee performances are offered every Saturday and on selected Tuesdays and Thursdays. For our adult performances we serve a three-course gourmet meal brought to your table for an additional level of service not commonly found in dinner theaters. For our children's theater a child friendly bag lunch keeps the costs down and offers our younger patrons a chance to experience live theater for less than the cost of a movie and popcorn. The Riverside Conference Facility has quickly become a staple in Fredericksburg's regional events market. Many times booked up months to years in advance our conference center prides itself on individualized service and attention to detail. Our coordinators work one on one with their clients to accommodate their special requests and personally see each project through to the final day.
